Slight involuntary shaking of the head is considered to be caused by idiopathic tremor. Idiopathic tremor is an autosomal dominant disorder, and about 2/3 of patients have a positive family history of the disorder in clinical practice. The exact cause of idiopathic tremor is not clear, but modern research has found that there may be a relationship between genetic factors and environmental factors, resulting in involuntary slight head shaking, which is generally mild and does not affect the patient’s daily life, so no special treatment is needed. However, if the head shaking is more serious and the ability of daily life is affected, the patient can be given drugs to treat it. The first-line recommended drug is propranolol, which can effectively reduce the amplitude of the patient’s limb tremor.
