What to do if total bile acid is 60

The normal value of total bile acids is 0.1-10.0 μmol/L. It is a group of metabolites of cholesterol decomposition in the liver and intestine-hepatic circulation, which is the end product of cholesterol decomposition and metabolism in the liver and is closely related to cholesterol absorption, metabolism and regulation. When hepatocytes become diseased or blocked inside or outside the liver, bile acid metabolism becomes impaired and flows back into the blood, and total serum bile acid concentration increases. Therefore, changes in the level of total bile acids can be a sensitive reflection of liver function. A total bile acid value of 60 μmol/L in liver function tests is abnormal in this case because 60 μmol/L is significantly higher than the normal value. Therefore, in this case, it is recommended that the patient should undergo further detailed examination, such as ultrasound of the liver or enhanced CT of the liver, which can clearly identify the specific lesion of the liver and the location of the lesion. Based on the specific examination results, the next step of examination and treatment plan will be decided. If you are suffering from acute or chronic hepatitis, take some liver-protective drugs such as adefovir, lamivudine, glyburide, etc.; if you are considered to be suffering from alcoholic hepatitis, try not to smoke or drink in your life; if you are suffering from hepatitis B, you can take the drugs adefovir, telbivudine, entecavir treatment, etc.
