Jaundice value of 8.2mg/dL is normal for a 23 days old child who is breastfed.

Jaundice value of 8.2mg/dL is not normal for a 23-day-old child on breast milk and may be breast milk jaundice.
Newborns with jaundice value more than 5~7mg/dL may have jaundice visible to the naked eye. Physiologic jaundice in full-term infants subsides within 2 weeks at the latest, and jaundice still present on the 23rd day of life indicates pathologic jaundice, which is abnormal.
Since the child is breastfed, breast milk jaundice should be considered first. The manifestation is elevated non-hemolytic unconjugated bilirubin. Total bilirubin 8.2mg/dL, generally no treatment is needed, stop breastfeeding 24~48 hours, jaundice can be significantly reduced, when the total bilirubin continues to rise, greater than 12mg/dL when feasible light therapy.
If breastfeeding jaundice is found, you should go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions.
