Feipongqiao, also known as tree hugging lotus, has the effect of clearing heat and detoxification (removing heat and toxicity from the body), subduing swellings and dispersing knots, and stopping bleeding. It is used in the treatment of suppurative otitis media and mumps. Contraindications are unclear.

It has therapeutic effects on diseases such as damp-heat jaundice, redness and swelling of the eyes (conjunctiva congestion, redness, swelling and pain), suppurative otitis media, mumps, lymphadenitis, scabies and mange (a skin disease commonly known as tinea capitis), and so on.
