Cervical spondylosis may cause throat discomfort. There are two main possible scenarios of cervical spondylosis causing throat discomfort, which are sympathetic cervical spondylosis and cervical spondylolisthesis compressing the esophagus and causing throat discomfort.
The two mechanisms of cervical spondylosis causing dysphagia are: sympathetic cervical spondylosis may produce dysphagia due to compression and irritation of the sympathetic nerves. Degenerative lesions of the cervical spine caused by osteophytes compressing the esophagus, patients with osteophytes causing the esophagus to be compressed and irritated, can also cause patients to experience symptoms of dysphagia.
If the primary disease of the throat is excluded, it is recommended that the patient undergoes further diagnosis of cervical spondylosis to clarify the cause of the disease and carry out the relevant follow-up treatment.
