Is it normal to have a fasting blood sugar of 7.4 in your 70s?

A fasting blood glucose of 7.4 mmo/L at 70 years of age is not normal, normal blood glucose is 3.9-6.1 mmol/L. Diabetes mellitus is considered to be diabetes mellitus if it is higher than 7.0 mmo/L on two measurements taken on a non-same day.
The diagnosis of diabetes mellitus does not distinguish between ages, and the diagnostic criteria for diabetes mellitus in the elderly and other age groups are the same. Diabetes mellitus can be diagnosed when fasting blood glucose ≥ 7.0 mmol/L, or 2-hour post glycemic load blood glucose ≥ 11.1 mmol/L, or random blood glucose ≥ 11.1 mmol/L, accompanied by three more and one less symptom (more drinking, eating, urinating, and weight loss).
Abnormal blood glucose, it is recommended to seek timely medical treatment.
