Whether thyroid cancer is prone to recurrence after surgical resection is mainly related to the condition of the thyroid cancer itself and the condition of surgery, and the conditions that are prone to recurrence include high malignant degree of the primary tumor, non-standardized surgery or post-surgery treatment, and poor physical condition of the patient himself/herself.
1. High malignancy of primary tumor: thyroid cancer itself belongs to medullary carcinoma or undifferentiated carcinoma, and the malignancy of the corresponding tumor itself is high, the prognosis is relatively poor, and recurrence is easy to occur.
2. Surgery or postoperative treatment is not standardized: some patients with thyroid cancer have incomplete resection of lesions, no standard radiotherapy treatment after surgery, and there are residual tumor cells, after which recurrence will occur with the proliferation of tumor cells.
3. Deviation of patient’s physical condition: poor physical quality and abnormal metabolic condition of the patient may also easily cause tumor recurrence.
If there is recurrence of thyroid cancer after surgery, it is necessary to consult doctor for observation in time and carry out standardized treatment under the guidance of clinician, so as not to be negligent and careless, so as not to make mistakes.
