The first and most common ear deformity is commonly known as “windy ears”, also called round ears. Although some people say that this is a very rich and powerful ear from a facial point of view, but if we look at the shape of this ear, it is not beautiful to make a relatively normal shape of the ear. In this case, we need to reconstruct the outer ear by using rib cartilage as a scaffold and then expanding the skin. The second condition is an earlobe split, which is a split in the middle of the earlobe. In this case, we can also perform surgical correction. In other cases, the problem is more severe and the earlobe is not present and the ear drops down from the top. From a facial point of view, these are the ears that are not blessed, so many people come to have them fixed. How do you do this? There are two options: one is to have a new earlobe made, and the other is to have an earlobe reconstruction. The third one is microtia, which is a fleshy lump or an earlobe in the middle, and in this case we opt for ear reconstruction. There are also other ear deformities that are mainly caused by trauma. For example, there are often cases in the news where a worker makes a mistake and a factory machine cuts off half or even the entire ear. In addition to surgery, there is another method called pseudoprosthesis, which is to make a prosthetic ear and put it on the area. In some cases, due to the age of the patient, there is no local reconstruction, and the ear is deaf due to a burn or trauma. Now we have been able to make the pseudo-replica so realistic that the prosthetic ear and the opposite ear are identical, so you don’t have to worry about attracting strange looks when you walk outside. Especially with 3D printed ears, the effect will be more realistic.
