What’s with the chicken skin on the thighs?

Chicken skin refers to keratosis pilaris in medical terms. Keratosis pilaris on the thighs may be related to genetic factors, vitamin deficiencies, metabolic disorders and other factors.
1. Genetic factors: Keratosis pilaris has a certain genetic predisposition, if the parents suffer from keratosis pilaris, it will lead to an increased chance of the next generation of the disease.
2. Vitamin deficiency: If you are partial to food or picky about food for a long period of time, you may suffer from vitamin A deficiency in your body, which may induce perifollicular keratosis.
3. Metabolic disorders: If your metabolism is impaired, keratinocytes may become over-keratinized, leading to blockage of hair follicles, and thus the development of keratosis pilaris.
There are more causes of perifollicular keratosis on the thighs, so patients are advised to go to a regular hospital to get a clear picture of the cause of the disease.
