Is Moderately Severe Fatty Liver Serious

Moderate fatty liver is not serious, but severe fatty liver has the potential for serious consequences. People with moderate fatty liver disease do not always show clinical symptoms and liver function damage is relatively mild, so there are no serious complications. If positive treatment is given, the liver may return to its normal form in a relatively short period of time. However, in severe fatty liver disease, liver fibrosis will be more obvious and liver function will be obviously abnormal. Patients will not only have clinical symptoms such as fatigue, anorexia, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, etc., but also have jaundice, nosebleed, bleeding gums, severe pain in liver area, etc. If no treatment is given to severe fatty liver disease, it will not cause any serious complications. Moreover, if severe fatty liver is not given timely treatment, it will further develop and eventually form cirrhosis. And cirrhosis is now an irreversible lesion, which will cause portal hypertension, which will lead to upper gastrointestinal tract hemorrhage, hepatic encephalopathy, intractable ascites, hepatic failure, hepatorenal syndrome, hypersplenism, primary liver cancer, and even may also cause death.
