How to treat a mildly enlarged heart

Mild enlargement of the heart requires medication and, if necessary, surgery depending on the specific cause. Common causes include myocarditis and hypertensive heart disease.
1. Myocarditis: Patients with myocarditis have cardiac hypertrophy due to fibrosis of the heart muscle. Antiviral drugs, such as acyclovir and vasiclovir, can usually be taken under doctor’s supervision to inhibit viral infection. Adverse effects of such drugs include nausea, vomiting and headache. It should be noted that patients with myocarditis need to have regular review of heart ultrasound.
2. Hypertensive heart disease: Patients with hypertensive heart disease monitor their blood pressure for a long time and take antimyocardial remodeling drugs, such as captopril and enalapril to relieve their symptoms. These drugs are prone to headache, dizziness and other adverse reactions, and require special attention during the medication period.
If mild enlargement of the heart occurs, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible to avoid aggravating the condition with the development of the disease.
