The main causes of arm joint clicking include physiological popping and pathologic causes.
1. Physiological rattling: most people will have joint rattling during joint activities, which is due to the friction and impact between the articular cartilage and synovial fluid during the activities, known as physiological rattling. Physiological popping often has no pain, discomfort, and does not affect the activities, without special treatment.
2. Pathological causes: such as degenerative osteoarthritis, synovitis, osteophytes and other conditions, pathological causes will lead to increased intra-articular pressure, roughness of the joint surfaces, the emergence of periarticular edema, when the joint activities in the joint cavity inside and outside the pressure difference between the increase or the impact of the abnormal tissues will appear popping. Pathologic popping is often accompanied by pain and limitation of movement.
The cause cannot be accurately determined by the symptoms of popping alone, but needs to be combined with the characteristics of the medical history and other test results to make an accurate judgment, and it is recommended to clarify the cause of the disease under the guidance of a doctor and then targeted treatment.
