The main manifestation of stroke is the change of brain and spirit, which is caused by various internal and external pathogenic factors, resulting in the closure of the orifice and the concealment of the spirit, and the failure of the spirit to guide the gas. The process of stroke is gradually aggravated by the manifestation of “Shen hiding” → “Shen neglect” → “Shen injury” → “Shen dispersal”. Acupuncture for stroke is divided into three steps: the first step is to wake up the mind, the second step is to regulate the mind, and the third step is to calm and nourish the mind. Paralysis and contracture (both contracture and impotence) are the main manifestations of stroke. According to Prof. Wu Lianzhong, the lack of recovery of muscle strength of Yang meridian and the increasing muscle tone of Yin meridian are the main reasons. The clinical evidence shows that many patients have recovered the muscle strength of the yin meridian along with increased muscle tone of the yin meridian, which can lead to muscle contracture and joint flexion if not treated correctly, and seriously affect the patient’s motor function. According to the changes of the meridians of the Yin and Yang meridians of the limbs, Professor Wu adopts the method of following the meridians and performing qi stabbing to sort out the qi of the three Yin meridians and adjust the function of limb flexion; using the method of flying the meridians and performing qi stabbing to perform the qi of the three Yang meridians and adjust the function of limb extension. The key to recovering the function of the limbs in stroke is to be able to flex and extend. Treating yin is also treating yang. In the Nei Jing: “Solitary yang cannot be born, solitary yin cannot grow”, suggesting the interdependence between yin and yang, that is, the so-called “yin and yang mutual root. In the Su Wen – Jin Kui Zhen Shu Shu, it is said, “There is yang in yin and yin in yang.” In the treatment of stroke, we should be good at “drawing yang from yin” and “drawing yin from yang”, and flexibly select acupoints and use acupuncture strategies according to the deficiency of meridians and changes in the internal organs, so as to achieve the secret of yin and yang. Treatment of near and far The recovery of the distal limbs of stroke patients is more difficult than that of the proximal ones. According to the physiopathological characteristics, the proximal end of the limb recovers first and the distal end recovers later, so the acupuncture points should be combined with the distal end; the distal end of the acupuncture points should be less precise and more qi, the foot entropion and foot prolapse are commonly used in Dazhong and Foot Linobu, with Dazhong applying the lifting and inserting diarrhea method and Foot Linobu applying the lifting and inserting tonic method to support the corrective effect; the clumsiness and weakness are commonly used in Taixi and Fuyao, with the lifting and inserting tonic method to soften the tendons and strengthen the bones and benefit the kidneys. For finger and small arm movement disorders, Si Du, He Gu, Waiguan, Hand San Li and Qu Chi are often used to stimulate the meridian qi with lifting and inserting techniques, which can effectively enhance muscle strength and reduce muscle tone. Modern medical research proves that the onset of brain plasticity and functional reorganization after brain injury is a dynamic process. Functional reorganization after stroke can be divided into 4 stages: 1. Immediate post-stroke changes, the entire neural network is in a state of inhibition, which is consistent with the theory of distal functional inhibition. 2, Incremental regulation and hyperactivity in the undamaged hemisphere. 3, Decreased activation of motor-related areas in the bilateral hemispheres, during which the residual neural network establishes a new balance. 4. The chronic phase of post-stroke recovery. The dynamic changes in functional reorganization after brain injury suggest that different acupuncture methods should be used in different periods of stroke recovery in order to promote the reorganization of brain function and recovery of motor function. This confirms the therapeutic rule that Wushi’s treatment of the god of stroke is based on the changes of the patient’s god, and is applied in steps to awaken, regulate, calm and nourish the god. In addition, the identification of the stroke’s Shen and Qi, Yin and Yang, and the rigidity and tenderness in the Yin and Yang meridians, and the distant and near wind contractures in the rigidity and tenderness, is in accordance with the dynamic changes in the reorganization of stroke function, and the corresponding acupuncture prescription is used to achieve personalized treatment.
