How is diabetes diagnosed?

  1. Diabetic symptoms + blood glucose level ≥ 11.1 mmol/L at any time; 2. Fasting blood glucose level ≥ 7.0 mmol/L or blood glucose level ≥ 11.1 mmol/L 2 hours after meal. Diabetes can be diagnosed if any of the above conditions is met.  Fasting refers to no caloric intake within 8 to 14 hours; any time refers to any time within 1 day, independent of the time of last meal and food intake.
