How is diabetes diagnosed?

  Diagnostic criteria of diabetes mellitus: clinical manifestations combined with laboratory tests.  Plasma glucose level ≥ 11.1mmol/l (200mg/dl) at any time; Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level ≥ 7.0mmol/l (126mg/dl).  Note: Any time plasma glucose level ≥ 11.1mmol/l (200mg/dl) . Any time refers to any time of the day, regardless of the time of the last meal and food intake. Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level ≥ 7.0 mmol/l (126 mg/dl). Fasting means no caloric intake for at least 8h.
