Prolapsed uterus cannot be seen by ultrasound. Diagnosis of prolapsed uterus is made by the patient’s symptoms and by the gynecological examination of the doctor. The main symptom is a vulvar swelling, which becomes more visible and fuller after standing for too long or coughing repeatedly. During the gynecologic examination, the patient is asked to hold his breath and strain to see the prolapsed cervix or anterior and posterior walls of the vagina, and the degree of prolapse is determined by examining the distance of the distal end of the prolapse from the hymenal edge. Subsequent treatment is based on the patient’s discomfort, such as urinary urgency, frequency, or obstruction to discharge, and then comprehensive treatment and, if necessary, surgery is given.
