People have the impression that it is not easy to get rid of freckles, especially those that have grown for many years, and it is even more difficult to get rid of them completely. No wonder beauty king S said that the only thing more difficult to deal with than actresses is freckles. It is clear that removing freckles is not an easy task. Freckles are autosomal dominant, mostly occurring in children, often first seen around the age of 5, the number of freckles increases with age, reaching a peak around the age of 18, and the color deepens, mostly in women, mainly seen in the exposure area, especially the face, arm extensions and the back of the hand. The lesions are brown spots, round, oval or irregular, with clear boundaries, but the edges are often irregular, 1 to 2 mm in diameter, rarely more than 5 mm, about the size of a pinhead or a grain of rice, light brown to dark brown. It is common to have dozens to hundreds of densely distributed, but each spot is isolated and not fused. They are most commonly found on the face, especially on the back of the nose and cheeks, and occasionally on the back of the hands, neck and shoulders, but do not occur in non-exposed areas with normal epidermal appearance. The number of freckles increases with the age of the patient, and they are scattered and deepen in color after sun exposure, and excessive exposure to X-rays and ultraviolet rays can promote and aggravate the disease, and even the fluorescence of fluorescent lamps can stimulate it. The color of freckles varies according to the amount of sunlight exposure. In winter, the color is light brown, and in summer, the color deepens to brown or dark brown, but it is never black. Patients with freckles should reduce excessive exposure to sunlight. If treatment is needed due to cosmetic requirements, some simple methods can be used as follows: for a larger number of freckles, external application of 3% hydroquinone cream or hydrogen peroxide can be temporarily effective, or 3% lactic acid can be applied once a day until the flakes are removed. Some of the freckle creams are also available. In addition to the above-mentioned topical medication, a short period of freezing with liquid nitrogen spray and topical herbal preparations can also be used.
