There are various causes of eardrum entrapment, usually related to factors such as secretory otitis media, pharyngitis or sinusitis, etc. Different causes are treated in different ways. It is recommended to choose the appropriate treatment method according to the patient’s condition under the judgment of the doctor, such as medication and surgery.
1. Secretory otitis media: If you suffer from secretory otitis media, it can lead to dysfunction of the Eustachian tube, which causes an imbalance of atmospheric pressure inside and outside the tympanic membrane, and then the tympanic membrane will be invaginated. Commonly used drugs include standard myrtle oil, amoxicillin, prednisone, etc. Surgical treatment includes tympanic membrane puncture, tympanotomy and tube placement.
2. Pharyngitis: Pharyngitis can also cause obstruction of the Eustachian tube, resulting in an imbalance of pressure inside and outside the eardrum, leading to eardrum invagination. Treatment can choose local medication, such as compound borax gargle, throat spray; bacterial infection can take antibiotics such as amoxicillin and other treatments.
3. Sinusitis: Sinusitis may cause inflammation of the Eustachian tube orifice and edema, which may lead to the symptoms of eardrum invagination. Macrolide antibiotics, beclomethasone propionate spray, hydroxymetazoline nasal spray and other medications can be used to improve the inflammation and edema, and in severe cases, endoscopic sinus surgery and other surgical treatments are carried out under the judgment of the doctor.
If the patient has eardrum invagination, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time for a comprehensive examination and treatment, and the above drugs should be used under the guidance of a doctor.
