Drugs are sociological concepts that are highly addictive and are chemical substances that are banned from society. The main drugs in our country are opioids, cocaine, marijuana, amphetamine-type stimulants, and other drugs. Drugs can cause physical and mental dependence: 1. Somatic dependence, commonly known as physical addiction, refers to the repeated use of these substances to cause certain biochemical changes in the central nervous system to the point where the substances are needed to persist in the body to avoid the symptoms of a specific withdrawal syndrome. Drugs act on the body to produce adaptive changes in the body, creating a new state of equilibrium under the influence of the drug. Once these drugs are stopped, physiological functions will be disturbed and serious reactions called withdrawal reactions will occur, making the person feel very painful; 2. There is mental dependence, commonly known as heart addiction, which refers to the user’s strong craving to use these substances, to obtain a special mental pleasure after taking the drug. After the drugs enter the body, they act on the nervous system, causing a strong craving for the drugs, driving the user to seek and use the drugs in spite of everything. Once mental dependence occurs, even after detoxification treatment, it takes months or even years to fully recover the original physiological functions after the acute withdrawal reaction is basically controlled.
