Differential diagnosis of neck swelling

First, diseases occurring in the thyroid gland, including thyroid adenoma and simple thyroid cysts, may be further differentiated from the following diseases: First, thyroid adenoma and simple thyroid cysts. Secondly, thyroglossal cyst is a developmental abnormality. If the patient is instructed to stretch the tongue, it will show that the mass moves with tongue stretching. Thirdly, the swelling occurring in the lateral side of the neck, most commonly an enlarged lymph node in the neck, can be secondary to local soft tissue infection, can be a malignant tumor of a distant organ with metastasis of the lymph node in the neck, and the patient will show loss of appetite, weight loss, and obvious anemia within a short period of time.
