Can paraplegia heal itself?

Cannot. Paraplegia is a very serious disease, patients should not treat it by themselves, but should undergo rehabilitation treatment such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, mental health and rehabilitation nursing under the guidance of doctors. 1. Physical therapy: paraplegia can be treated with electroacupuncture, massage, infrared and other physical therapy under the doctor’s supervision, so as to promote blood circulation, anti-inflammatory and analgesic. Lung function training and trunk muscle strength enhancement training should also be carried out under doctor’s guidance to prevent muscle atrophy and lung infection and to improve the exercise ability. 2. Occupational therapy: paraplegia should also be trained under the doctor’s guidance as early as possible for postoperative activities, such as turning over, going to bed, getting out of bed, sitting up, toileting, etc., to meet the needs of adapting to personal life after being discharged from the hospital; occupational labor training should be carried out if necessary. 3. Mental health: After paraplegia, the patient should also actively build up self-confidence, recognize self-worth, and correctly and actively participate in rehabilitation training. 4. Rehabilitation care: In addition to rehabilitation training, the patient should learn how to prevent pressure sores and maintain the correct body position under the guidance of medical personnel, which is conducive to improving the quality of life. Although there is no cure for paraplegia at present, the quality of life of patients can be effectively improved through active rehabilitation training and treatment. Therefore, patients should have hope and cooperate with the physician’s arrangement, with a view to returning to normal life.
