What causes swelling of the right eyelid?

Patients with eye infections such as bacterial dacryocystitis and conjunctivitis may develop eyelid edema under the stimulation of inflammation, which may be accompanied by discomfort symptoms such as photophobia, tearing and conjunctival congestion. Patients with systemic diseases such as renal failure and heart failure may also develop eyelid edema due to fluid retention, but it is usually more common bilaterally, and may appear unilaterally at the early stage of the disease.
