Which is more accurate, colonoscopy or CT

Both colonoscopy and abdominal CT are commonly used in gastroenterology, and they function in different areas and achieve different results, there is no such thing as more accurate.

1. Abdominal CT: Abdominal CT is a kind of imaging examination, which has the advantages of large observation range and painless examination for patients. It can detect obstructions, tumors and metastases in the intestinal tract, and can provide doctors with accurate lesion sites to determine the scope of surgery. However, because abdominal CT is only an imaging test, it cannot be used as a basis for diagnosis.

2. Enteroscopy: enteroscopy is an invasive examination, that is, the endoscope is inserted from the anus, retrograde examination of the intestinal tract. It has the advantage of being more delicate and convenient for pathologic examination. The scope of colonoscopy is not as good as abdominal CT, which can only check the lesions of colon and anal canal; however, colonoscopy has the significance of confirming the diagnosis of inflammation, ulcer and tumor.

Therefore, colonoscopy and abdominal CT have their own use scenarios, and need to rely on the clinician’s judgment to use reasonably, in order to ensure the accuracy of the patient’s examination.
