Uric acid of 428 μmol/L is slightly above normal. For a normal male and a postmenopausal woman, uric acid levels need to be less than 420 μmol/L to be considered normal. For a premenopausal woman, uric acid levels should be less than 360 μmol/L to be in the normal range. Although uric acid 428 is higher than normal, patients should not worry too much because there are many reasons for uric acid fluctuations, such as drinking a lot of alcohol or overeating, drinking lamb soup, eating more meat and other purine-rich foods one day before the uric acid test, which can cause a mild increase in uric acid. In addition, a single test for elevated uric acid does not mean hyperuricemia. Patients need to be tested more than 3 times repeatedly to clarify whether the combination of hyperuricemia, and of course, patients with mildly high uric acid levels need some attention in their lifestyle.
