Treatment with chondrocyte transplantation

From 2011 to the present, nine patients younger than 40 years old, diagnosed with “osteonecrosis of the talus and osteochondral exfoliation of the talus”, were treated with chondrocyte transplantation and rehabilitated for 3 months, and all were followed up for more than one year. All of them have been followed up for more than one year. They are now living and exercising normally. The patients should be young enough to have the possibility of osteochondral repair after the talus injury. Over 40 years of age, the indication for surgery is basically lost. 2. These patients are basically disappointed or ineffective in other treatments before they are referred for such surgery. The optimal time for chondrocyte transplantation is lost and the efficacy is not comparable to that of chondrocyte transplantation of the knee. 3. Patients are not sufficiently aware of this type of surgery and do not actively engage in post-operative rehabilitation exercises, resulting in a slower than expected recovery process. 4. Chondrocyte transplantation has been carried out abroad for more than 20 years, but in China, only Zhejiang University has carried out this type of surgery in the country, and the awareness is very low. 5. There are many cases of osteonecrosis of the ankle joint talus, but few of them can be cured because the effect of traditional methods is extremely limited.
