The doctor stands 5 meters away, the patient stays quiet and stands sideways with his/her ear facing the doctor, the other ear is plugged tightly with a cotton ball, the doctor reads the words aloud softly, 1 word is read 2 times and the patient is asked to repeat it, 3 words are repeated correctly are recorded as 5 meters of hearing. If hearing is not possible at a distance of 5 meters, the record is based on the actual distance.
Mild deafness, that is, 3-5 meters away from the hearing is not clear; moderate deafness, that is, 1 meter away from the hearing can not be heard; severe deafness, the need to shout in the ear in order to be heard; extreme deafness, can hear very loud sounds, but can not distinguish between the words.
