This formula is from “Treatise on Typhoid Fever”. This formula has the effects of lowering rebelliousness and resolving phlegm (correcting retrograde qi and removing phlegm from the body), benefiting qi and harmonizing the stomach, etc. It can be used in treating gastric deficiency with phlegm obstruction and qi reversal syndrome.
The patient mainly manifests as stomach and epigastric plumpness or distension, no pain when pressed, frequent belching (the sound made by the gas in the stomach going up and out of the throat), or poor appetite, hiccups, nausea, or even vomiting, with white and greasy tongue coating and slow or slippery pulse, etc. The patient’s symptoms may be different from those of the other patients.
