Atherosclerotic cerebral stenosis

With the improvement of living standards. People eat better and better, and exercise less and less. Unbeknownst to us, atherosclerosis, an invisible killer, is quietly approaching, greatly endangering people’s health. When it comes to atherosclerosis, many people will associate it with cardiovascular disease. In fact, atherosclerotic cerebrovascular stenosis is also very common. Due to the insidious symptoms, it often progresses and worsens gradually without people noticing, and is compared to an invisible killer. Professor Tong Zhiyong from the Department of Neurosurgery of China Medical University First Hospital reminds the patients that they should pay attention to the danger of this disease. Atherosclerosis can lead to the formation of blood clots in cerebral blood vessels, the diameter of blood vessels becomes thin, and severe stenosis can cause ischemic infarction of brain tissue. Once it happens, the patient may be disabled or die, which brings heavy burden to himself, family and society. The professor introduced that atherosclerotic cerebral stenosis is a great danger and should be strived for early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment. Smoking, hypertension, hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia are the main causes of atherosclerosis. Factors such as obesity, insufficient exercise, and irregular lifestyle also increase the risk of atherosclerotic cerebrovascular disease. Patients with these risk factors who experience symptoms such as dizziness and confusion, weakness of limbs and inability to speak should go to the hospital as soon as possible to improve the examination and take necessary medication or surgical treatment. Even if symptoms have not yet appeared, they should remove bad habits as soon as possible, control blood pressure, blood lipids and blood sugar, eat healthily, actively participate in sports and have regular cerebrovascular examinations, which are essential to prevent and treat atherosclerotic cerebral stenosis. At present, cerebrovascular disease has been the first cause of death of our nationals, and the incidence, death rate and disability rate of stroke in China are high, which adds a heavy burden to the society and families. However, it is entirely possible to prevent this aspect of the disease through the right measures.
