Creatine kinase isoenzyme is a cardiac enzyme. A high level of creatine kinase isoenzyme may be due to myocardial injury, which is commonly seen in acute myocardial infarction, old myocardial infarction, or dilated cardiomyopathy, to name a few. Along with high creatine kinase isoenzyme, other cardiac enzymes, such as troponin and myoglobin, which are indicators of myocardial damage, may be reviewed. An electrocardiogram, cardiac ultrasound, coronary CTA, and coronary angiography are also needed to understand the extent, location, and size of the myocardial damage, and through a comprehensive assessment, an individualized treatment plan can be customized in order to achieve the patient’s health.
