How young children can protect their teeth

Young children need to choose the way to protect their teeth according to different age groups, such as cleaning with gauze before 6 months; brushing in the morning and evening and regular checkups are needed after having teeth at the age of 1-3 years. For newborns aged 0~6 months, although there are no teeth in the mouth, parents also need to clean the children’s mouth with gauze after breastfeeding or before bedtime. For children aged 6 months~1 year, teeth have begun to erupt. In addition to gauze cleaning, it is recommended to start using finger cots to assist in cleaning the palate, gums and teeth, etc. For children aged 1~3 years, it is recommended that parents assist in helping to brush the teeth by using the circular brushing method. After 3 years old children have the ability to brush their teeth on their own, it is recommended that they brush their teeth in the morning and evening, rinse their mouths after meals, and consume less sugary and sticky foods. In addition, fossa sealing is recommended for the eruption of both the first molar (around 6 years old) and the second molar (around 11~13 years old). Regular oral checkups every 6~12 months for early detection and treatment.
