Many patients come to the clinic with back pain, and some are concerned about whether the back pain is caused by liver disease. It is true that some of the patients who have back pain may have back pain due to liver problems. For example, a huge tumor in the liver, a relatively large liver cyst, or even a stone in the liver or gallbladder. Whether gallbladder stones or intrahepatic stones, they can cause back pain during an attack. However, orthopedic diseases are more common causes of back pain in clinical practice. For example, muscle strain caused by long-term poor posture, or aseptic inflammation of the myofascia caused by cold, fatigue, trauma, or excessive activity, or cervical spondylosis or shoulder joint disease, which may cause pain in the back. Therefore to answer whether liver disease can cause back pain, the answer is yes. However, for patients with back pain, it is important to analyze more about which etiology of back pain belongs to, whether it is an orthopedic problem or a problem in another department. Only by making adequate diagnosis and differential diagnosis can we effectively avoid clinical underdiagnosis and misdiagnosis.
