Many patients and friends are afraid of having lip gland biopsy, thinking it is a surgery and very painful. Unbeknownst to them, dry syndrome cannot be diagnosed without taking biopsy and without pathological diagnosis. Many patients who are positive for SSA and SSB antibodies may have other immune diseases, or infections, tumors, or tuberculous diseases. Likewise, patients with negative antibodies cannot exclude dry syndrome because the antibody positivity rate is not high.
