The albumin to globulin ratio is high due to the following reasons: first, liver and kidney diseases, such as chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and nephrotic syndrome. Second, autoimmune diseases, more common are rheumatic diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus and so on. Third, malignant tumors, blood diseases, mostly seen in multiple myeloma, lymphocytic leukemia. Fourth, infectious diseases, malaria, filariasis and schistosomiasis, etc. Fifth, albumin and globulin ratio indicates changes in liver function, because protein itself is output by the liver, and albumin and globulin ratio can determine liver abnormalities, while other indicators, such as glutamic aminotransferase and glutamic oxalacetic aminotransferase, should be combined to determine the situation of liver function.
