There is no definite time for colitis to turn into colon cancer, some years, even decades. Colitis is a variety of inflammatory lesions that occur in the colon, and whether or not it produces cancer is related to the degree of inflammation. And only a very few patients with colitis will become cancerous, such as patients with ulcerative colitis.
1. Chronic colitis: this is a common disease, usually not cancerous, mainly manifested as abdominal pain, diarrhea, abdominal distension, etc., which may be related to infection, heredity, diet and so on.
2. Tuberculous colitis: also known as intestinal tuberculosis, manifested as abdominal pain, abdominal mass, some will have low fever, nausea and other symptoms. Patients should be treated with anti-tuberculosis therapy, which is usually not cancerous.
3. Ulcerative colitis: this is an autoimmune disease, in which repeated inflammation of the colon occurs, ulcers appear on the inner wall of the colon cells, and prolonged inflammation will eventually lead to colon cancer.
Colitis is a common disease, but the inflammation is different from the disease and should be treated actively.
