Female vulvar discomfort can be caused by itching of the vulva, pain in the vulva, or swelling of the vulva. The causes of vulvar discomfort are particularly varied, so they need to be judged on the basis of specific symptoms, performance and examination. For example, if a woman simply has vulvar itching without any abnormalities in the leukorrhea, it is important to consider that it may be caused by vulvovaginitis, or it may be caused by vulvar sclerosing moss. If there is vulvar itching with bean-like leucorrhea, the abnormalities should be considered to be caused by mycosis fungoides, and usually there is also burning and tingling in the vulva. Mycosis can occur regardless of whether a woman is sexually active or not. If the swelling of the labia minora occurs after intercourse, but there is no other discomfort, it may be due to labia minora edema caused by frictional irritation during intercourse.
