How to determine if your child is short in height

The growth of human height is regulated and controlled by a variety of hormones secreted by the endocrine system. From infancy to pre-puberty, it depends on growth hormone and thyroid hormone; during puberty, in addition to the above two hormones, growth is also influenced by sex hormones.

How to identify whether a child is short or not? It can be judged from these aspects: 1. The child stands in the first 3 places in the class; 2. A size of clothes or shoes are not small when worn for several years; 3. If the growth rate is less than 7 cm/year in infancy (under 3 years old), less than 4-5 cm/year in childhood (3 years old to puberty), and less than 5.5-6.5 cm/year in puberty, it can be clear that the child has growth retardation.

If several of the above situations occur, then your child may have encountered obstacles in physical growth. 8 to 14 years old is a critical stage for children to grow, so be vigilant and find early treatment in time.
