What to do about itchy casts

During the process of tying a plaster immobilization can lead to the development of itching, mainly due to the lack of means to properly wash the skin during the immobilization of the plaster, which is triggered by a large number of metabolites and microorganisms that multiply. If the itching is mild, you can use a thin object and scratch slightly through the fixation gap. However, if the itching is particularly severe and there is no way to relieve it, you can go to the hospital and ask the doctor to remove the external fixation of the plaster and wash the skin in a safe, non-stressful way to relieve the itching symptoms. The cast can then be re-immobilized to prevent displacement of the fracture or stress on the tendon.
