Chloasma, called liver spot in Western medicine, also called sallow spot and butterfly spot in Chinese medicine, is a common cosmetic skin disease on the face with limited, light brown or brown skin pigmentation changes on the face, which is common in young and strong women. There are also a number of unexplained causes. Sunlight exposure can aggravate the disease. The cause of chloasma is complex, and there is no effective treatment drug or method yet, but various treatment effects are available, which can have certain effect, but the course of treatment is long, easy to repeat and slow to take effect. At present, there are internal, external, acupuncture and physiotherapy methods for melasma treatment as follows: 1.Internal western medicine treatment Oral vitamin C and vitamin E can inhibit free radicals and induce lipid peroxidation to prevent pigmentation Reduced glutathione, with free radical scavenging and antioxidant mechanism Tranexamic acid, by blocking fibrinolytic enzymes, can inhibit UV-induced pigmentation and play a fast and long-lasting effect. 2.Oral Chinese medicine According to the different types of diagnosis, choose different prescriptions: for spleen qi deficiency, strengthen the spleen and benefit the qi, use Tonic Zhong Yi Qi Tang, Six Jun Zi Tang, plus or minus; for yin deficiency and fire, nourish yin and lower fire, use Da Yin Wan, Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan, plus or minus; for liver qi stagnation, dredge the liver and relieve depression. If there is no obvious symptom, we can also use the traditional Chinese medicine Zhuangyao Wan, or Liuwei Dihuang Wan to guard the medicine, and also use the oral liquid to eliminate the spots. 3.External treatment Commonly used are 3% hydroquinone cream, 2.5% white mercury ointment, 3% hydrogen peroxide, such decolorizing agents, external rubbing of the affected area, usually used every night before bedtime, but note that hydroquinone can cause uneven decolorization, or excessive decolorization, and not achieve the desired cosmetic effect. 4.Acupuncture treatment Body acupuncture plus local acupuncture or auricular acupuncture, auricular pressure bean, can play a role in tonifying the liver and kidney, regulating qi and activating blood to remove spots. In addition, for stubborn melasma, physical therapy can be combined, including chemical peeling, intense pulsed light, laser, freezing, dermabrasion, microcrystalline grinding, which is usually not as the preferred solution because the effect variability is large and it is easy to cause post-inflammatory pigmentation.
