Can atrophic gastritis be cured?

  Atrophic gastritis is a type of chronic gastritis. There is no effective treatment, mainly symptomatic treatment, and atrophy can be improved or reversed in some patients. Treatment includes the following modalities: Etiological treatment: remove the foci of infection in the nasopharynx, quit smoking and avoid alcohol. Diet should be soft, easy to digest, avoid too rough, avoid foods containing strong and spicy seasonings or taking drugs that are stimulating to the stomach. Geriatric gastric mucosa with different degrees of atrophy and intestinalization is difficult to reverse, and should be actively treated when there is active inflammation.  Medication: including eradication of H. pylori infection; gastric mucosal protector thioglycollate tablets or suspension; H2 receptor blockers; gastrodynamic agents; digestive aids and dilute hydrochloric acid; for combined pernicious anemia, lifelong vitamin B12 injections are required. iron deficiency anemia requires iron supplements.  Surgical treatment: Atrophic gastritis and intestinalization are not absolute indications for surgery. For those with polyps, heterogeneous hyperplasia or focal depressions or bulges, follow-up should be enhanced. When chronic atrophic gastritis with severe anisotropic hyperplasia or severe intestinal hyperplasia is present, surgical treatment may be considered.  Patient education: food should be diversified, avoid partial diet, supplement a variety of nutrients, do not eat moldy food; eat less smoked, pickled, nitrate and nitrite rich food, eat more fresh food; avoid too coarse, strong, spicy food and a lot of long-term alcohol consumption, quit smoking; maintain a good heart condition and adequate sleep.  Therefore, there is no effective treatment for atrophic gastritis, the cause should be clarified, symptomatic treatment, some patients atrophy can be improved or reversed.
