Minimally invasive wrist arthroscopy to remove cysts

For cysts that occur in the ligaments of the wrist joint, the term tendon sheath cyst that has been used is a medical misnomer. Because they originate from the palmar or dorsal ligaments of the wrist, and not from the tendon sheath, conventional surgery requires deep tissue dissection and is more invasive. Minimally invasive wrist arthroscopic surgery, in which the tip of the cyst is shaved under direct vision, results in a minimally invasive and aesthetically pleasing surgical incision and effectively reduces the recurrence rate.
