A red mark on the eyelid of a newborn baby can be seen in two cases: the first is due to trauma to the eyelid during birth or injury caused by compression of the birth canal, resulting in subcutaneous hemorrhage, so this condition can occur. This is not a cause for concern, as the bleeding can slowly absorb on its own. The second is capillary hemangioma, which is also a relatively common eyelid hemangioma and is more common in children or infants. In this case, premature treatment is not recommended because capillary hemangiomas tend to improve on their own, so they can be observed for a period of time. If it is still obvious after the age of five, treatment is usually considered. Glucocorticoids can be injected into the capillary hemangioma, or the treatment can be done by freezing or surgery.
