How to treat cold stomach and damp heat in the large intestine

Stomach cold and damp-heat in the large intestine (the large intestine feels damp-heat evil qi) can usually be treated with Chinese herbal medicines, such as Li-Zhong Tang with Paeoniae Alba Soup and other additives and subtractions. Stomach cold is different from deficiency and reality. If the stomach yang is insufficient and there is a loss of warmth in the stomach, there are symptoms of deficiency cold in the stomach and epigastric region, such as warmth and pressure; if the cold evil is in the stomach, there are symptoms of solid cold in the stomach and epigastric region, such as cold pain and refusal to be pressed. Cold in the stomach can lead to stagnation of qi and fluid, gathering and transforming heat, and dampness-heat infiltration (dampness and heat invading the intestines, bladder, yin, lower limbs, etc.), which can be seen in abdominal pain and diarrhea, burning anus and other symptoms of dampness-heat of the large intestines. It may be treated by adding or subtracting Lizhong Tang to warm the stomach and dissipate cold, and Pao Yao Tang to clear damp-heat in the intestines. The adverse reactions and contraindications of the above formulae are not clear. People with stomach cold and intestinal damp-heat should be treated with specific symptoms and signs, and the medicines should be taken in accordance with the doctor’s instructions, and should not be used without authorization.
