What does apolipoprotein mean?

Apolipoproteins are the protein fraction of plasma lipoproteins that bind and transport lipids to various tissues of the body for metabolism and utilization. Numerous studies have found that mutations in the apolipoprotein gene result in different allelic polymorphisms and further formation of differently expressed apolipoproteins. It can affect the metabolism and utilization of lipids, thus affecting the occurrence and development of hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Apolipoproteins are clinically classified into five types, A, B, C, D and E. Apolipoprotein A is commonly used. Alcohol consumption and high-fat diet can cause elevation of Apolipoprotein A, so if Apolipoprotein A is elevated, it is necessary to stop drinking and eat a light diet.
