Why Lung Cancer Favors Women Too

Traditionally, lung cancer seems to be the exclusive preserve of men, and men with lung cancer have been the highest number of all male cancer patients. Currently, however, lung cancer has become the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women due to smoking, air pollution, and kitchen fumes. In the previous 40 years, breast cancer was the leading cause of cancer deaths in women. Second-hand smoke” makes women passive victims. Some information shows that the number of non-smoking women among lung cancer patients is gradually increasing. What is the reason for this? Investigation shows that the cause of these female patients’ disease comes from passive smoking, or “second-hand smoke”. Some women who live with smokers are six times more likely to develop lung cancer than normal people. Therefore, women prevent lung cancer, in addition to not smoking themselves, should also be away from the poison of passive smoking. Since the human respiratory system is directly connected to the outside world, the incidence of lung cancer in women is closely related to the quality of the surrounding environment. Second, 90% of lung cancer is related to smoking because lung cancer is very common, is a common disease, is the leading cause of cancer death, one of three to four tumor death patients have lung cancer, lung cancer lacks early diagnosis measures, the majority of patients in late stages to die within a year. In fact, most lung cancers can be prevented and controlled. 90% of the causes of lung cancer are related to smoking, which has a very good linear correlation. In this regard, the relationship between smoking and lung cancer is quite close, and some friends may say that I never smoked, but I still got lung cancer. In addition to active smoking, lung cancer is also associated with passive smoking, which is often referred to as secondhand smoke. The best strategy to control lung cancer is to prevent smoking, especially in public places, which is a feasible strategy. Although non-smokers also suffer from lung cancer, the number and severity of lung cancer among smokers is much higher than that of non-smokers. As many as 90% of men with lung cancer and 79% of women with lung cancer are associated with smoking, either passively or actively. Smoking cessation in women remains the most fundamental and manageable measure. One study found that women who smoke have five times the risk of lung cancer than non-smokers. The sooner women quit smoking, the better, because studies have shown that only those who have quit smoking for more than five years have their lung cancer rates dropped to a level close to that of normal people without a smoking habit. A five-year lung cancer epidemiological survey from Shanghai showed that young and middle-aged women’s long-term exposure to high-temperature fumes while cooking in the kitchen will increase their risk of lung cancer by 2 to 3 times. Studies have shown that because of the toxic smoke produced by high-temperature fumes during kitchen cooking, the local environment deteriorates and the toxic fumes irritate the eyes and throat for a long time, damaging the cellular tissues of the respiratory system, which can easily lead to a high incidence of lung cancer if not protected. Women should change their cooking habits, don’t overheat the frying pan when frying; install a range hood in the kitchen; always turn on the range hood during the cooking process; if there is no range hood in the kitchen, make sure to open the window for ventilation so that the fumes can be dispersed as soon as possible. V. Don’t ignore early symptoms The symptoms of lung cancer include cough, dyspnea, chest pain, loss of appetite and hemoptysis, etc. The symptoms are not specific. Therefore, early symptoms of lung cancer are often neglected by patients, and once patients are diagnosed, they are already in the middle or late stage. Therefore, a more scientific and safe way for women to prevent lung cancer is to go to the hospital regularly for health checkups to facilitate early detection and treatment. Even if a small lung tumor is found at this time, early treatment and surgery will have a very high success rate, which is not only completely curable but also not costly. The famous artist Zhao Lirong died because she did not have early examination, and once she was discovered, she had advanced lung cancer, which finally metastasized to bone cancer and could not be cured.
