Drinking alcohol during rabies vaccination is not recommended. Although heavy drinking may not cause a complete loss of effectiveness of the rabies vaccine, it may indeed have some effect on the effectiveness of the rabies vaccine. Drinking alcohol can lead to a high blood alcohol concentration, and this high alcohol concentration may affect some of the components of the rabies vaccine, resulting in a decrease in the activity of the vaccine. In addition, it is possible that drinking alcohol may lead to increased blood circulation near the bite wound, thereby accelerating the process by which the rabies virus enters the peripheral nervous system from the wound. It is possible that poor rest during the rabies vaccination may be caused by alcohol consumption, and poor rest at this time may allow the patient’s corresponding symptoms to appear or even worsen. Therefore, from these three aspects, alcohol consumption during rabies vaccination is not recommended.
