Although there are no contraindications between these two medications, both contain Codonopsis, and taking them together may carry the risk of overdose, and they are generally not recommended to be taken together.
Astragalus Sheng Wei Drink is composed of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Fructus Schisandrae chinensis, Fructus Schisandrae chinensis, Radix Astragali, Radix et Rhizoma Ophiopogonis, and can be used for the treatment of palpitation and shortness of breath caused by deficiency of Qi and Yin. The adverse effects and contraindications of this medicine are not known with certainty.
Both flavors of the proprietary Chinese medicine contain Radix Codonopsis pilosulae, and their use in combination may lead to overdose of the medicines, resulting in damage to the organism, so it is generally not recommended to take them together.
