What to do about dilatation of the upper left ureter in men

If there is dilatation of the upper ureter, it is usually due to ureteral obstruction, so the obstruction should be relieved and urine should be drained according to the etiology.
The most common cause of ureteral obstruction is a stone. If ultrasound or CT shows an embedded stone in the ureter, holmium laser lithotripsy with ureteroscopy should be performed to relieve the obstruction. If it is due to ureteral stenosis, a double-J tube can be placed to recanalize the ureter and drain the urine. If it is due to ureteral spasm, scopolamine can be given to relieve spasm.
If none of the above methods are effective, percutaneous nephrostomy is feasible to drain the urine first, and then further treat the primary disease. Prevent hydronephrosis from causing renal insufficiency.
The presence of dilatation of the upper part of the ureter, need to actively consult the doctor, follow the doctor’s instructions for reasonable treatment.
