What is Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

  Generalized anxiety disorder is having widespread and persistent anxiety. It is often a subjective worry with multiple components, showing excessive worry and fear of its occurrence for a threat, danger or unfortunate event that does not exist now. After a persistent episode of generalized anxiety disorder, some patients simply experience that they are on edge all day long, and are not clearly aware of the object or content of their worry. It is like a “floating anxiety”.   The four main signs of generalized anxiety disorder: 1. anxiety and worry: significant anxiety. 2.  2. Motor restlessness: rubbing hands and feet, moving back and forth, nervousness and restlessness, inability to sit still.  3, autonomic hyperfunction: palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, excessive sweating.  4. Hypervigilance: easily frightened, startle reaction, difficult to fall asleep and wake up easily, easily irritated.
