This is caused by the improvement in the standard of living and the increase in life expectancy per capita year by year. Herpes zoster (serpentine sores) mostly occurs in elderly people with low resistance. According to statistics, 10.71% of the population in Dalian is over 65 years old. The incidence rate in foreign sources is 1.2-4.8/1000 people/year, increasing to 7.2-11.8/1000 people/year in people over 60 years of age. With a population of 8 million, the number of new cases in Dalian is about 25,000 per year, with more than 8,000 people over 65 years of age suffering from herpes zoster (serpiginous pemphigoid). Half of the population over the age of 85 has had shingles.
