An endometrial thickness of 4mm is normal. The endometrium varies in thickness at different times of the menstrual cycle and usually the thickness of unilateral endometrium is between 2-5mm under normal circumstances. If ultrasound results show unilateral endometrial thickness of more than 5mm, accompanied by abnormal vaginal bleeding or irregular menstruation, diagnostic scraping is recommended for middle-aged women to clarify the cause of endometrial thickening and provide timely symptomatic treatment. If the endometrium exceeds 5mm and there is no abnormal change in menstruation, it is recommended that observation should be the main focus and follow-up ultrasound should be performed at the hospital on a regular basis to see if the thickness of the endometrium has increased. If the endometrial abnormal hyperplasia is serious and conservative treatment with scraping drugs is not effective, surgical treatment can be considered if there is no desire to have children.
